Oktoberfest to return to Chilwell with German grill experience and 'disco fries'

After a successful debut last year, Oktoberfest will be making an all-singing, all-dancing, all-drinking return to Chilwell this autumn.

For just two days, The Garage, in High Road, will be transformed into a Bavarian beer hall with authentic and official Oktoberfest beer, German grub including bratwurst, currywurst and pretzels, as well as music from Oompah bands.

So make sure to wear your dancing shoes.

Taking over the site of the old Bartons bus headquarters, the festival will take place on Friday, October 11 and Saturday, October 12, with a family-friendly lunchtime session on Saturday.

Joining the event for the second year will be the The German Grill Experience serving up sizzling sausages in addition to their smoked salmon dishes.

As well as this, street food favourites Discos Fries will be serving the New Jersey diner classic in various different flavours including Cajun spice with blue cheese and gravy with smoked mozarella.

For those not so fussed about beer, Just Gin Time will be serving up some artisan gins with mixers.

A lunchtime session will take place on Saturday which is family friendly. Pictured: the German Grill Experience (The Garage)

Organiser James Barton, of Barton Bros, says it was a no-brainer to bring back the event for a second year.

“It was a really fun weekend that we definitely wanted to bring back in 2019”, he says.

“The atmosphere was brilliant. People have been asking all year when it was happening again so they could put it in their diaries. We’re thrilled we can finally announce it.”

Oktoberfest early-bird tickets have already sold out for both nights and once general admission tickets have sold out there will be no more available.

Home to monthly events such as The Street Food Smoke-Up, Sunday Fine Food & Craft Market and a monthly Comedy Club, The Garage will soon be adding classic cinema screenings to its programme.
