Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley reportedly has no desire to coach the Redskins

Among the top of the list of replacements for former Redskins head coach Jay Gruden is Lincoln Riley, the current head coach and offensive mastermind at the University of Oklahoma.

In three years with the Sooners, Riley has gone 29-4 while coaching both Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray to Heisman-winning seasons. He has been rumored this past season as one of the top candidates for the numerous NFL coaching vacancies that are sure to open up, and with Gruden getting the boot in Washington, a position is now open for Riley, should he take the leap.

The only problem is that the Oklahoma coach has no desire to coach the Redskins.

According to Allbright, even if Riley had intentions of making the jump to the NFL, which he apparently doesn’t, the situation in Washington is not appealing to him. With an owner in Dan Snyder who has shown a propensity to pull the plug on any number of head coaches should things not go well, it’s understandable that any coach would stay away should they have other options. Because of this, it’s possible that the Redskins will need to look in-house for their next candidate.

Rumor is, there’s a young, bright offensive mind already in the building. Maybe they should look there.
