Oklahoma City picks up options on Ferguson, Gilgeous-Alexander

Oklahoma City has exercised its fourth-year contract option on Terrance Ferguson and its third-year option on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

The team announced the decision Friday.

Ferguson was drafted with the No. 21 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. He was held out of the Thunder’s final preseason game after being rear-ended on the way to Chesapeake Energy Arena Wednesday afternoon.

His best preseason game was the opener against the Dallas Mavericks in which he came off the bench to score 12 points in 19 minutes. His lone start of the preseason game against the New Zealand Breakers on Oct. 8.

Gilgeous-Alexander is believed to be the heir-apparent at point guard in Oklahoma City after coming to the Thunder as part of the trade for Paul George.

SGA was impressive during the preseason, starting all four contests. He averaged 18.8 points per game, shooting 50% from the field and 23.5% from three.

His numbers shouldn’t really come as a surprise. Gilgeous-Alexander led all rookies in scoring during his rookie season with the Clippers.
