The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) called on Sunday for an immediate halt to Israel's attacks on the Gaza Strip and blamed "systematic crimes" against the Palestinians for the latest hostilities.
The statement, carried by Saudi state media, called for an immediate halt of the attacks on civilians, saying they were "a violation of the international law and the UN resolutions.”
The OIC condemned “in the strongest terms Israel's brutal aggression” against the Palestinian people.
The statement came after a virtual meeting.
The organization said it holds Israel “fully responsible for the deterioration of the situation caused by its systematic crimes against the Palestinian people across all occupied Palestinian Territories, in particular, the extensive barbaric military attack on the Gaza Strip.”
The statement called on Israel to respect Muslims' access to Al-Aqsa Mosque as well as stop settlers from forcibly evicting Palestinian families from their homes.
The 57-member body called on the United Nations Security Council to act immediately to put an end to Israel’s aggression on the Palestinian people.
