Ohio State softball bounces back to hammer Penn State 12-1 after dropping game one of double-header

After a disappointing first game against Penn State, the Ohio State softball team took out some aggressions in game two during a mid-week Big Ten double-header. The Buckeyes busted out for a 12-1 five-inning win.

The Buckeyes struck first in the opening inning of the game two with one run because of some miscues by the Nittany Lions, but it was the third inning that put the game out of reach early. All told, Ohio State brought thirteen batters to the plate, banged out ten hits and scored nine runs to go up 11-0.

The hits are too many to name, but the big star at the plate was Niki Carver who went 3 for 4 with a home run, two-runs scored and 4 RBIs. A ridiculous seven Buckeyes tallied multiple hits in the game.

Lauren Rice went the distance for her fourteenth win on the season, giving up six hits and just one run.

The victory was a great bounce back to the first game of the night in which Ohio State fell in a close 6-4 final largely because of six errors in the field that waste thirteen hits and a slew of stranded runners.

With the split, Ohio State’s record is now 24-12 overall, and 8-3 in Big Ten play. Next is a home three-game series against Michigan this weekend.
