Ohio State’s X-factor for Saturday’s matchup with Wisconsin is …

The Ohio State football team will go as far as running back J.K. Dobbins takes it Saturday. With an explosive start to the season, Dobbins has shown that he can carry the load in the running game, but he might be called on even more on a sloppy afternoon.

He’s been everything you’d expect him to be as the main option in the backfield, and with a little over 100 yards on Saturday, Dobbins can eclipse his total from last year and put himself over a thousand yards for the third year in a row. He’d be the first Buckeye running back to ever accomplish that feat in his first three years.

And Ohio State might need him more than ever against Wisconsin. With the way this thing might go down weather wise, and with the Badgers’ penchant and focus on stopping the ground game, I say if Dobbins can put up 140 yard of total offense and breakthrough with a touchdown or two, it might just be make all the difference in the world.

Of course it all starts with controlling the line of scrimmage, but that won’t be an easy task against the Wisconsin front. Dobbins has to run hard when he gets a seam, and might have to make his own, or get yards after contact.

There’s no doubt the emergence of Master Teague has given the running game a good balance on the ground, but it might be on the shoulders of Dobbins to get this thing going tomorrow.

With great anticipation all eyes will be on number two tomorrow.
