Ohio State receives crystal balls for twin Ohio offensive lineman

Ohio State wasn’t kidding when comments were made about recruiting on a more regional basis due to Name, Image and Likeness.

Yes, head coach Ryan Day and his staff will still seek out the best prospects nationally, but if they believe that the talent is equal at home, then going a bit harder after an Ohioan, or in this case, a pair of them, makes sense.

In January, scholarship offers went out to St. Edward twins Devontae and Deontae Armstrong, each of them possessing the attributes that offensive line coach Justin Frye was looking for. Devontae was offered as an interior offensive lineman while Deontae was as a tackle.

After meeting with the Buckeye coaches, it seems like the Armstrongs are leaning towards staying home. Ohio State’s 247Sports insider, Bill Kurelic, thought enough of the information that he was able to gather and put a crystal ball pick (subscription required) in for each of the twins to end up at Ohio State.

Devontae Armstrong stands six-foot-six-inches while weighting 290-pounds. He is the No. 33 ranked offensive tackle and the 446th overall player according to the 247Sports composite. Penn State, Michigan, Michigan State, and others have offered.

Deontae Armstrong is a bit taller at 6-foot, 7-inches while being a bit lighter at 280-pounds. He is tied with his brother in the rankings and has the same bigger offers, giving more emphasis that they are twins.
