Ohio State freshman wide-receiver Jameson Williams loses black stripe

We have our latest black-stripe alert. There were a couple of early-enrollee freshman that officially became a Buckeye over the last couple of days. First it was Harry Miller, and now freshman wide-receiver Jameson Williams can be included in that mix.

Williams came to Ohio State and got a jump on things early. According to Ryan Day, he’s been impressive and working hard at receiver and on special teams so far. And now he’s been awarded for it.

In case you don’t know about the black-stripe tradition yet, it was initiated by Urban Meyer and is a right of passage for Buckeye players that are new to the program. They all have a black stripe covering the scarlet one down the middle of the helmet, and once they have proven themselves, it gets removed.

Watch the quick video of Williams being announced as an official Buckeye and what he says to the team.

Congrats Williams! Now go get ’em and continue to flash all over the field.
