Ohio State football vs Maryland: Five observations halftime review

We are at halftime of an underwhelming Ohio State offensive effort. This week the Buckeyes head into halftime at a tie with the Maryland Terrapins, with 10-10 and seven points of that were provided by the defense.

Everyone heard the hype surrounding this Maryland offense and that it could be a team that bites Ohio State in the rear end and that makes sense considering the Terrapins are no slouch and are undefeated currently.

Still, the Buckeyes are more than two touchdown favorites and coming off a bye week, which in my opinion should make this contest a blowout in favor of Ohio State, but let’s dive into the five most noticeable details from the first half.

Sleepwalking

The tweet is from almost a month ago and it rings true today. Ohio State has a bad habit of sleepwalking through some of these games and it is eventually going to provide the program a loss. That could be today.

The Josh Proctor story is awesome

Every Buckeye fan is aware of the adversities that Josh Proctor has faced, but this season he has risen above it and been an impact player. Today he earned himself a pick-six.

Ohio State is being outplayed

I know I mentioned that Ohio State was sleepwalking, but I do want to make sure I give credit to this Terrapin squad as they look good and are straight up out playing the Buckeyes in every aspect of the game.

A lot of work to do

Brad Power is one of the most credible handicappers in the business and his statement is not a hyperbole. This team should be better and there is no arguing that. But, it is still early in the season.

Is Maryland a top team?

The Terrapins are undefeated and unranked. I thought this was justified going into this week, because their toughest opponent was arguably, Indiana, but I need to revisit that thought. It’s also not as much about how you play but how you look considering the competition.
