Ohio State dangerously close to being out of latest NCAA Tournament projections

Now there’s hardly any room for error. Fresh off an embarrassing loss on the road to last place Northwestern, the Buckeyes are beginning to slide down most bracket projections and almost off the page.

In the latest CBS Sports bracket projections by Jerry Palm, the Buckeyes are now a No. 11 seed. To put that into perspective, the No. 12 seeds are among the last four in, meaning Ohio State is somewhere among the last five to eight teams into the tournament according to Palm.

That means there is little that can go wrong for March Madness to have a scarlet and gray hue come Selection Sunday. And the bad news there? The Buckeyes have to face a ranked Wisconsin team at home — likely without Kaleb Wesson. Win, and they are likely in the tournament. Lose and things get more hairy than a Wooly Mammoth convention.

CBS isn’t the only projection the Buckeyes have begun to slide down on the seed line either. According to Joe Lunardi of ESPN’s Bracketology, Ohio State is also a No. 11 seed. So there seems to be a bit of a consensus.

Maybe Ohio State still gets in today despite the recent struggles, but it is certainly not a done deal, especially without finishing things with at least one more victory, maybe more.

The bubble watch continues.
