PSNI officers are appealing for help in locating a man who threatened pharmacy staff with a knife this afternoon in Belfast.
The incident occurred at around 2:40pm in the Whitewell road area.
According to reports, the man walked into the pharmacy wielding a knife and threatened staff while demanding access to cash and drugs.
He is thought to be in his 40s and reportedly fled the scene empty-handed when two male workers returned to the store while he was there.
Police in Belfast are now appealing for witnesses to come forward, and have described the culprit as being around 5’8 and of slim build.
He was wearing a black gilet, with a grey tracksuit, a beanie hat and a black mask at the time of the attempted robbery.
In a statement released today, PSNI Detective, Sergeant McCartan said: “At approximately 2.40pm, police received a report that a man armed with a knife had entered the premises and threatened staff before demanding drugs and cash from the till.
“The man made off empty handed when two male members of staff entered the shop.
“He is described as being aged in his 40s, of slim build, approximately 5’8 tall and was wearing a black gilet, grey tracksuit, a beanie hat and a black mask.
“I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have any dash-cam footage that could help with our investigation, to contact police on 101 quoting reference 1070 of 07/02/22.”
