Officers hunting for gunman who fired in Little Hulton 'hope to make progress' on arrests

Officers are still searching for a gunman who fired into a Little Hulton home while a man was inside earlier this week.

Police were called out to Madams Wood Road just before 1am on Tuesday (May 4) following reports of gunfire.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed on Tuesday that two shots were fired into the property, while one man was inside the house at the time, but he did not suffer any injuries.

The force says it is yet to make any arrests following the shooting, but enquiries are still ongoing.

The Manchester Evening News has been told that officers are doing a lot of CCTV enquiries, and GMP hopes to make progress on any arrests soon.

GMP said on Tuesday that the attack was not being linked to any other incident, despite a string of shootings in Little Hulton over the past five years.

A police cordon was in place throughout Tuesday as detectives and forensics officers carried out their investigations.

The ground floor window at the front of the property had been destroyed by the shots, before it was boarded up in the early hours of the morning.

Residents told the M.E.N. that armed police swarmed Madams Wood Road after shots were heard.

One neighbour said: "It was about 1:15am. I heard two gunshots. I knew straight away what they were. One hundred percent. They didn't sound like fireworks, they were really, really loud.

"I went upstairs to see if I could see anything but I couldn't. But about half an hour later we got a knock at the door.

"Obviously you don't normally get a knock at the door at that time but it was the police and they were asking for the footage from our doorbell camera.

"There were police everywhere. Two armed units, you could see their guns, about four police cars, vans. The helicopter was up and you could hear that overhead as well."
