Off-road motorbiker suffered 'very serious injuries' after hitting a fence

An off-road motorbiker suffered 'very serious injuries' after hitting a fence.

Police say the crash took place after the biker, a man in his 30s, lost control on a bend.

He was thrown from the bike and despite wearing full protective clothing and a helmet he suffered significant injuries.

He was taken to Salford Royal Hospital where his condition is described as 'serious'.

The crash took place on Station Road, in Whitworth near Rochdale, at 7.40pm on Saturday night.

Police are now appealing for witnesses.

Sgt Chris Evans said: "This incident has left a man with some very serious injuries and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward and contact the police."

Anyone with information should contact Lancs Police on 101 quoting log 1831 of August 8.
