Odisha reports 805 fresh Covid cases

BHUBANESWAR: Five districts — Balangir, Kalahandi, Subarnapur, Nuapada and Kandhamal — reported zero Covid infection on Sunday even as the state added 805 fresh cases from among the 72,412 samples tested. The state saw 131 more children getting infected.

“We are testing 2,400 samples daily, but the results of hardly two to three cases are returning positive. Most of the urban centres and rural pockets have been witnessing zero infection,” district collector (Balangir) Chanchal Rana said. Khurda district reported the most number ( 346) of cases with Bhubaneswar adding 143 of them against 159 recoveries. Cuttack district’s daily caseload remains around 100 with Cuttack city witnessing around 30 cases daily.

As many as 11 districts now have active cases below 50 with Gajapati having the lowest (8). The state confirmed seven more Covid deaths, taking the toll to 8,047.
