Odell Beckham Jr. goes through drills with Giants teammates

Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. continues to take steps toward Sunday.

On Wednesday, for the first time since spraining his ankle two and a half weeks ago, the star receiver was able to stretch with the rest of the team before a practice. Beckham took part in most of the maneuvers, skipping, jumping, jogging, high-stepping. He did not have any type of brace or wrap on his injured left ankle and did not appear to have any significant limp.

What he did not do during media availability _ in the first 20 minutes or so of practice _ is practice. When the team ended its calisthenics and began to participate in drills, Beckham trotted to the side and continued to work with trainers.

Wednesday was the latest in Beckham's progress toward being ready for the opener in Dallas four days from now. The Giants have just two on-field workouts before that game and Beckham has yet to be seen running at full speed or cutting at any significant pace. The Giants have been very secretive about his rehab.

Beckham suffered the ankle injury in the Aug. 21 preseason game against Cleveland. He was first seen doing football-related movements last Thursday before the preseason finale in New England. On Monday, he rode a stationary bicycle while the team stretched and then went into the fieldhouse to continue his rehab work.

Beckham's availability for Sunday likely will be a gametime decision, and Wednesday's activity shed little light on that ultimate goal. But at least it was progress toward it.
