Obi-Wan Kenobi: When will Episode 5 be released on Disney Plus?

Episode 5 of this dramatically dark series on Disney Plus drops on Wednesday (June 15) at 7am – with Star Wars fans aching to find out what happens next.

The last instalment may have turned the heat down to a relative simmer after the molten fury of Darth Vader’s thrillingly violent return in episode 3, but that’s not to say the follow-up was any less gripping.

In it we saw our exiled Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi ( Ewan McGregor ) deftly escape Darth Vader's clutches, but unfortunately his young ally Princess Leia (Vivien Lyra Blair) wasn’t so lucky.

Our bearded and battered hero managed to flee with the help of Tala Durith (Indira Varma), an Imperial officer covertly helping people escape Vader's malicious mitts through an underground railroad (‘The Path’).

Foolishly, our well-meaning duo left Leia alone to board the ship to Alderaan, where she was promptly grabbed by Imperial Inquisitor Reva (Moses Ingram), aka the Third Sister.

We later saw Obi-Wan join forces with Tala in an effort to rescue Leia from the sinister Fortress Inquisitorius on Nur, but the shrewd Reva was quick enough to place a tracker in the girl's treasured droid LOLA – a smart move that later saved her from a potential Vader Force-choke.

"It seems I have underestimated you," the Dark Lord ( Hayden Christensen ) thrillingly said as he released his grip.

Viewers may be scratching their collective heads at why she placed the tracker, but it’s seemingly all part of a cunning plan to locate the Jedi and the Path.

Later on in the episode, Obi-Wan was introduced to anti-Imperial network leader Roken (O'Shea Jackson Jr.), who's doing his best to aid surviving Jedi.

It’s here we caught an intriguing glimpse of how the mighty Rebel Alliance grew out of a scattered series of cells largely operating autonomously.

Towards the end of the last instalment, Obi-Wan stumbles across a ghoulish room festooned with the preserved bodies of deceased Jedi.

Quite why the Empire is sinisterly holding on to these corpses is unclear, with some speculating it could be related to Emperor Palpatine’s bid to genetically engineer powerful beings to replace him should he die.

Roll on episode 5!
