Almost a year since announcing the long-awaited Oasis reunion, brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher have played their first show together in 16 years.
The once-warring siblings kicked things off at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, on Friday (4 July) before further dates around the UK, the United States, South Korea, Japan, Australia and South America.
Thousands of fans gathered at the Cardiff venue to watch the rock band, who broke up after a backstage fight in 2009. They tore through hits including “Morning Glory”, “Supersonic”, “Half the World Away” and “Stand by Me”.
At one stage, Liam Gallagher made a taunt about the ticket pricing scandal, which occurred when the tour was announced last August. “You’re having a good time, yeah?” he said, asking: “Is it worth the £40,000 you paid for the ticket?”
On Tuesday, Noel was spotted by a young fan at Cardiff station, having apparently opted to travel by train ahead of his band’s first gig since 2009.
“It felt so surreal seeing a rock icon live in the flesh,” Oasis fan Joey, 16, told the BBC. “Their music has been such a big part in my parents’ life and also mine too. I can’t wait to see them live on Friday.”
Oasis are being supported in the UK by Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft, who declared it a “historic night”, and the Liverpool-formed band Cast.

Our Oasis reunion show verdict is in...
22:37 , Jacob StolworthyAs Liam and Noel Gallagher tear through two hours of uninterrupted hits, it’s tough to imagine another comeback on such a momentous scale.
Mark Beaumont reviews Oasis’ first live show in 16 years:

In Cardiff, Oasis deliver the rock reunion to end them all - review
A round-up of a night music fans will remember forever
23:02 , Jacob StolworthyRock ‘n’ roll stars Noel and Liam Gallagher brought the house down at the Principality Stadium, kicking off their record-breaking reunion tour in tremendous fashion.
Roisin O’Connor was at the Cardiff gig, a momentous night that support act Richard Ashcroft rather aptly described as “historic” before it started.
It certainly was – find out everything that went down during Oasis’s first live show in 16 years here:

Oasis reunite after16 years for euphoric Cardiff stadium show
What a show – the Gallagher brothers are well and truly back, and will do it all over again tomorrow. You’ll be able to find our verdict here shortly as well as aa wrap of everything to know about the show.
In the meantime, here’s a photo that will make any music lover’s hairs stand on end.

'Nice one for putting up with us over the years'
22:09 , Jacob StolworthyThat’s a Liam Gallagher quote right there, just before launching into the night’s final song, a pleasant rendition of “Champagne Supernova”. Followed by a Gallagher brother embrace! It was quick, but still.
The end of the show is nigh
22:08 , Roisin O’ConnorNoel's solo outing on “Don't Look Back in Anger” gets the most full-throated singalong of night so far – I have chills! Maybe I'm reading too much into his minimal facial expressions but Noel did look moved as he looked out at the audience singing back to him. And now Liam rejoins us for "Wonderwall". We're nearly at the end now.
It’s encore time
21:53 , Jacob Stolworthy“The Masterplan” is first up – but you can probably guess what’s to come...
“Don’t Look Back in Anger” is next, which received (expectedly) a staggering response, followed by *drum roll* “Wonderwall”.
Oasis pay tribute to footballer Diogo Jota
21:45 , Jacob StolworthyAn animated screen in the background flashes a tribute to Diogo Jota, the Liverpool footballer who tragically died in a car accident this week.
The back of Jota’s shirt was emblazoned on the screen during the outro for “Live Forever”.
Now things are getting ‘biblical’
21:40 , Roisin O’ConnorThe atmosphere has turned, as Liam would say, "biblical" for a euphoric rendition of "Live Forever". I reckon we've got another 35 minutes left of this show - we're surely getting "Rock and Roll Star", "Wonderwall" and "Champagne Supernova".

Liam taunts the crowd over dynamic ticket price
21:24 , Jacob Stolworthy“You having a good time, yeah? Is it worth the £40,000 you paid for the ticket,” the cheekyt Gallagher brother says in between songs, addressing the dyamic pricing scandal when the tour was announced in August 2024.

Oasis fans rail against ‘disgusting’ Ticketmaster as concert prices more than double
Liam’s back
21:17 , Jacob Stolworthy...and next up are “D’You Know What I Mean?” and “Stand by Me”, indelible verses and all.
“Stand by Me” is the tracks that feels like it’s united them the most so far, their vocals slotting together really nicely. Oasis are back, baby!

It’s Noel’s time to shine
20:57 , Jacob StolworthyIt’s been heavy on Liam thus far, but now Noel steps into the spotlight and takes it acoustic with a stripped back version of “Talk Tonight”.
A nice reprieve for the crowd – and yes, our correspondent Roisin tells us, people are using this as a chance to run to the bar (or the loo).
But they’re quickly dashing back for the next ones, which earn the biggest singalongs of the night yet: 1998’s “Half the World Away”, which is backed up with a brass band, and 2002’s “Little by Little” – the first two songs to be played away from Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory.

The crowd basically sings ‘Roll With It’ for Liam
20:53 , Jacob Stolworthy“How we getting on then, alright?” Liam says before tearing into 1995 track “Roll With It” – and the crowd may as well be singing the song for him. But for what it’s worth, his vocals sound crisp and pack a wallop. Good for him!
Two early tracks next
20:47 , Jacob StolworthyThe Gallagher brothers follow “Cigarettes & Alcohol” up with a more sedate rendition of “Fade Away” before BOOM – they hit the crowd with “Supersonic”.
Roisin O’Connor, our correspondent on the ground, says the atmosphere is “very much celebratory”.
The floor is shaking for the next song
20:39 , Jacob StolworthyWith that crunchy, snarling T-Rex-style riff, it could only be “Cigarettes & Alcohol” – and the beers go flying.
The Gallagher brothers – unsurprisingly – have the crowd in the palm of their hand, with Liam asking everyone to put their arms around each other. “You don’t need GCSEs for that,” he quips.

Perfect opening four songs?
20:30 , Jacob StolworthyFourth song is another Morning Glory track – and it’s the No 1 hit “Some Might Say”.
Liam has his tambourine out for this one.
‘It’s been too long,’ Liam tells crowd
20:25 , Jacob StolworthyYou’re telling us, Liam! He’s clearly happy to be back together with Noel, who appears somewhat emotional while delivering the lyrics to “Acquiesce”.
Then it’s into “Morning Glory” and the crowd go WILD.

Oasis arrive on stage and perform first song
20:19 , Jacob StolworthyFor those wondering what Oasis would kick off their first reunion show with, it’s “Hello” – the first song on theit second album, (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?.
The lyrics aptly include the words “It’s good to be back” – seems so obvious now it would be this!
Roisin O’Connor, our correspondent on the ground, sums up the performance in one word: “Deadly.”
The pair settled into things immediately, arriving on stage together – and followed “Hello” up with popular B-side “Acquiesce”
This looks to be a good comeback for the lads.
Noel Gallagher spotted lurking on side of stage
20:10 , Jacob StolworthyWhat must be going through his mind at this point? He’s at the centre of the only place music fans want to be right now. Ashcroft had it right when he described the night as “historic”. I can’t imagine what Noel’s thinking here – beyond “I’m a very rich man”.
The crowd have spotted Noel and excitement has reached fever pitch!
We have a celeb spot
20:05 , Jacob Stolworthy...and it’s none other than Danny Dyer.
Ten minutes to go until Oasis officially reunite on stage!
Oasis fans are on their best behaviour
19:58 , Jacob StolworthyThere has been lots of fear mongering ahead of time that this show was going to be all gross lad culture. It’s still very early but the crowd at the moment seem to be on best behaviour.
The worst I've seen so far is a few tambourines getting chucked in the air – and a flare being let off for support act Richard Ashcroft’s “The Drugs Don’t Work”...

Richard Ashcroft dedicates ‘Bitter Sweet Symphony’ to Oasis
19:44 , Jacob StolworthyAfter a set that saw him tear through the old favourites, Richard Ashcroft ends his support performance with the 1990s classic “Bitter Sweet Symphony” (of course) – and dedicates it to the guys who invited him along.
“This one's for Noel and Liam,” he says to cheers from the audience, who are now just 30 minutes away from seeing the brothers reunite on stage.
Oasis excitement is in overdrive
19:22 , Jacob StolworthyIt’s an exciting time to be an Oasis fan – and that excitement is certainly palpable.
Richard Ashcroft arrives on stage for 'historic night'
19:02 , Jacob StolworthyThe second support act is on – and it’s Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft.
“So proud to be here on this historic night,” he says before declaring his “love” for Oasis.
He kicks off with Verve song “Sonnet” before playing “Space and Time”, “A Song for the Lovers” and “Break the Night with Colour”.
The crowd then engage in a singalong when Ashcroft performs “The Drugs Don’t Work”.
Oasis fans pick their favourite songs
18:44 , Jacob StolworthyA YouGov poll has revealed the nation’s favourite Oasis songs – and it’s close at the top between two rather obvious choices.
Sitting at the top, with 14 per cent, is “Don’t Look Back in Anger“, with “Wonderwall” following close behind with 13 per cent,.
In third place is “Champagne Supernova” with six per cent, with all other songs registering between zero and two per cent of the vote.

Cast are first support act
18:28 , Jacob StolworthyIndie rock band Cast are the first of two support acts on tonight ahead of Oasis, with Richard Ashcroft to follow.
According to our music editor Roisin O’Connor, “the audience is incredibly polite for Cast but not crackling with energy just yet.”
The stadium is filling up
18:14 , Jacob StolworthyWith hours to go until the Gallagher brothers take to the stage, Oasis fans are slowly making their way into the stadium in Cardiff.

Some Oasis fans ‘have no idea where they’re sitting’ after panic buying tickets
19:14 , Jacob StolworthyJosie Evans, from Birmingham, managed to secure tickets within five minutes of logging in for the presale.
“I have no idea where we’re sitting,” she told The Independent ahead of the concert. “I just panicked and clicked buy.”
She and her husband picked Cardiff because they love the city, she said. “I was at their last ever gig (until now) at V Festival 2009 at Weston Park – it’s pretty cool to say I was at the last gig and now their first back too! I’m so excited for a mass singalong, it feels like such a big moment and the city already has such a buzz with Oasis songs coming from all the bars.”
10 of the sweetest things Noel and Liam Gallagher have said about each other
17:31 , Maira ButtNeve Dawson writes:

16:15 , Greg EvansRyan, an Oasis fan who has travelled from Northampton, tells the Independent he’s “buzzing” ahead of the gig.
“My mate got me tickets, he literally got through in about 10 minutes,” he explains. “I’ve not seen Oasis [since] 21 July 2000 at Wembley, the one and only time I saw them. Nearly 25 years ago.”
His number one request for the setlist? “Definitely ‘Morning Glory,’ that’s my favourite. Absolute favourite. Hopefully they open with ‘F***ing in the Bushes’”.
The massive figure fans will be spending on reunion tour costs
16:01 , Roisin O'ConnorOasis fans are projected to spend over £1 billion on the band's highly anticipated UK reunion tour, Oasis Live ’25, according to estimates from Barclays. The massive figure reflects the enduring popularity of the Gallagher brothers and the growing "experience economy," the retail bank says.
Across 17 UK concerts, fans are expected to shell out a total of £1.06 billion, an average of £766 per attendee. This inclues not only ticket prices but also accommodation, travel, merchandise, food, drinks, and even clothing.
Barclays notes this spending is indicative of a larger trend where consumers prioritise experiences over material possessions.

12:40 , Greg EvansJosh, a fan from Philadelphia, lives in LA and travelled here with a friend for the Cardiff gig. He'd seen them twice before when he was a teenager.
“I have so many different friend groups from all over America, co-workers from LA, friends from Philly, people I’ve known for a lifetime of going to concerts and we're all at the Cardiff gig,” he tells our music editor Roisin O’Connor, who’s en route to Cardiff.
“I don't think there's been this many Americans in the UK since WWII.”

The band lineup for Oasis
10:46 , Roisin O'ConnorNoel and Liam Gallagher will be joined on stage by Gem Archer, Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs and Andy Bell, all former Oasis members, alongside drummer Joey Waronker, who has previously toured with Liam.
The band will also be backed by a brass section and backing singer Jess Greenfield, who is part of Noel's side project The High Flying Birds.
What to know about Richard Ashcroft
08:01 , Roisin O'ConnorAshcroft is supporting Oasis on the UK dates of their massive reunion tour. He’s a longtime friend of both Liam and his older brother, Noel, who supported his band ( known simply then as Verve) back in 1993.
Noel wrote the track “Cast No Shadow” from Oasis’s second album (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?, as a tribute to the Lancashire-born singer.
Placed between the band’s first No 1 single “Some Might Say” and their rock anthem “She’s Electric”, the ballad includes the lyrics: “Bound with all the weight of all the words he tried to say/ Chained to all the places that he never wished to stay.”
“[Ashcroft] always seemed to me to not be very happy about what was going on around him, almost trying too hard,” Noel once said in an interview with Select magazine. “I always felt he was born in the wrong place, and he was always trying to say the right things, but they came out wrong.”
Ashcroft said he was honoured to have inspired the song. However, asked by The Guardian in 2010 if “casting no shadow” meant he was a supernatural being, he responded: “I can’t work out if he means I’m a witch, vampire or just incredibly emaciated and thin cos, you know, I haven’t really got enough body mass to cast a shadow.”
After The Verve’s third album Urban Hymns and the accompanying single “The Drugs Don’t Work” topped the UK charts in 1997, Noel said he was “the happiest man in the world”. That same year, he called Ashcroft a “genius” and suggested their comparative lack of success to Oasis was because “circumstances worked against them”.
The Verve went through their third breakup in 2009 and have not reformed since; Ashcroft has enjoyed a successful solo career, releasing six top 10 albums including 2016’s These People.
In 2021, he shared his sixth solo record Acoustic Hymns Vol 1, a collection of new versions of songs spanning both his solo career and his time in The Verve; Liam joined Ashcroft for a duet of “C’mon People (We’re Making It Now)” from his debut solo album, Alone With Everybody.

Who are Oasis support act Cast?
Thursday 3 July 2025 18:01 , Roisin O'ConnorCast were formed in Liverpool in 1992 by John Power, following his departure from The La’s, and Peter Wilkinson, formerly of the band Shack. They rose to fame amid the Britpop scene of the mid-Nineties and released records including their 1995 debut, All Change, and 1999’s Magic Hour.
They split in 2001 after a poor reception to their fourth album, Beetroot. The band reformed nine years later and released their fifth record, Troubled Times. Their seventh album, Love is the Call, was released in February this year and achieved a No 22 spot in the UK charts.
Gallagher is said to have described watching Cast live as a “religious experience” in an interview with the band for the Daily Record. They previously supported Oasis during their historic Knebworth shows in 1996, along with The Charlatans, Manic Street Preachers, and Dreadzone.
Oasis tour the UK and Ireland from 4 July 2025 to 28 September 2025, with all dates already sold out. They will be supported in North America by US rock band Cage the Elephant; a support act for the Australia shows is yet to be announced.
