NYU Anti-Israel Protesters Arrested By NYPD On Campus

Demonstrators protest in solidarity with Pro-Palestinian organizers on the Columbia University campus, in New York City

Several anti-Israel protesters were arrested by the New York City Police Department on New York University's campus following a request from school officials to clear out individuals who were refusing to leave the area. The NYPD Deputy Commissioner, Kaz Daughtry, stated that the department received a letter from NYU detailing the request to clear Gould Plaza of individuals who were not complying with repeated requests to disperse.

According to Daughtry, these individuals were described as 'interfering with the safety and security of our community.' In response to the request, NYPD officers promptly arrived at the location and dispersed the crowd, making multiple arrests as necessary.

Daughtry highlighted a concerning pattern of behavior on campuses nationwide, where individuals attempt to occupy spaces in defiance of school policies. He reassured the public that the NYPD is prepared to address such prohibited and illegal actions whenever called upon in New York City.

This incident sheds light on the ongoing tensions surrounding protests and demonstrations on college campuses, emphasizing the importance of upholding safety and security protocols to maintain a conducive learning environment for all members of the community.
