NYT Strands today (game #617) - the answers

The answers to today's Strands, game #617, are…
- ACCOUNTANT
- CLERK
- MANAGER
- RECEPTIONIST
- AIDE
- SPANGRAM: OFFICEJOBS
- My rating: Easy
- My score: Perfect
I had two late-1970s hits going through my head as I played this game. The first being the Boomtown Rats' classic I Don’t Like Mondays, which was a bit macabre on reflection but something I used to sing to myself as I toiled through homework on a Sunday night.
The second song was Martha and The Muffins’ smalltown anthem Echo Beach, with its chorus of “From nine to five I have to spend my time at work / My job is very boring, I’m an office clerk” – something I can relate to in my former life as a bored office clerk.
Of all the OFFICEJOBS we searched for today, RECEPTIONIST has to be the most fun, especially if you have a computer screen that doesn’t face your colleagues – leaving you free to dream of being back in Echo Beach without your nosey workmates knowing what you’re up to.
