Super Micro Computer, Advanced Micro Devices, Diamondback Energy, Nike and Williams-Sonoma were the top five S&P 500 index gainers on the stock market today.
Super Micro stock surged 10.2% to 60.05 on Monday, setting a fresh six-month high. SMCI stock offered a few entries in recent weeks but is not in buy range now.
The Feb. 19 peak of 66.44 is the highest in almost a year, but far below the March 2024 peak of 122.90. The AI server maker and Nvidia partner will report earnings next week, with accounting concerns still lingering.
AMD stock popped 4.3% to 173.66, hitting a 52-week high. Advanced Micro Devices reportedly has raised the price of its high-end AI chip, a signal that it's confident it can compete with market leader Nvidia. AMD's reported price hike bolstered confidence in AI hardware demand generally, lifting other stocks including Supermicro. AMD earnings also are next week.
Outside of the top five Nvidia stock, for its part, gained 1.9% on Monday to a new high.
Diamondback Energy stock rose 4.1% to 150.52, hitting a one-month high but still below a long-sliding 200-day line. The Permian shale producer reports earnings next week.
Nike stock rallied 3.9% to 79.24, its best level since early March. Nike stock arguably cleared a 77.50 handle buy point in a six-month base. NKE stock has rebounded strongly since early April, but is still in a downtrend going back to late 2021. On Monday, JPMorgan upgraded Nike stock, predicting the Dow Jones athletic apparel giant's earnings will revive later in fiscal 2026.
Williams-Sonoma rounds out the five best S&P 500 stocks, advancing 3.6% to 188.23. The upscale housewares and furnishing retailer is building the right side of a 41%-deep cup base.
