Semiconductor stocks tied to the artificial intelligence megatrend dipped Friday as the second quarter nears its end. Astera Labs, Broadcom, Nvidia and Taiwan Semiconductor were among the decliners.
"Sentiment and positioning generally seems mixed to cautious" in semiconductor stocks, Mizuho Securities trading-desk analyst Jordan Klein said in a note Friday after investor meetings.
"A lot of 'watching and waiting' given war breaking out in Iran and ongoing trade and tariff uncertainty," Klein said.
Still, investors remain bullish on AI chip and hardware names, such as Nvidia stock, he said.
On the stock market today, Astera Labs stock fell 6.5% to close at 93.07. Broadcom retreated 0.3% to 249.99. Marvell Technology slid 1.9% to 73.51.
Meanwhile, Nvidia stock sank 1.1% to 143.85. Taiwan Semiconductor dropped 1.9% to 209.51.
Nvidia stock is on three IBD lists: Leaderboard, Sector Leaders and Tech Leaders.
Astera Labs is on the IBD 50 list and Tech Leaders. Broadcom is on Leaderboard and Tech Leaders. TSM stock is on Global Leaders and Tech Leaders.
