Numerous people threatened and robbed on the street by men who had a knife

Officers are appealing for witnesses after a number of people were threatened and robbed by two men with a knife.

One 22-year-old man was punched in the head by two men when he admitted he had no money, before the attackers took off with a carrier bag containing a phone, car keys and DVDs.

He was attacked and robbed in Howes Court, Newark, on July 18.

It happened at around 6.13pm.

A second incident occurred at around 6.21pm in Whitfield Street, where a 23-year-old woman had her mobile phone grabbed from her hands.

A man, 32, who was walking with her at the time, chased the two men but was threatened with a knife.

Nottinghamshire Police believe the robberies may be linked.

A spokesman for the force added: "In both incidents the men were described as white and aged in their late teens to early 20s and officers believe the robberies may be linked.

"Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has any information, is urged to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 769 of 18 July 2019, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
