NUH announces more coronavirus deaths at Nottingham hospitals

Health bosses in charge of the city's hospitals have confirmed a further seven patients have died after testing positive for coronavirus.

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH), which runs the Queen's Medical Centre and the City Hospital, announced the deaths on Wednesday, May 6.

This takes the trust's coronavirus death toll to 228.

NUH Medical Director, Dr Keith Girling, said: “Sadly we can confirm that a further seven patients have died having tested positive for Covid-19.

"Regrettably that means that 228 COVID-19 positive patients we were caring for have sadly died since the beginning of March.

“The patients were aged 76 and 97, and died between the 26 April and 5 of May.

“The families have been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult and distressing time.”

According to the latest Public Health England figures, 543 people have tested positive for the virus in Nottingham and 1,165 across the wider county.

There have been 29,427 coronavirus deaths UK-wide.
