Homendy stressed the importance of understanding that the focus on scene is solely to collect perishable evidence.
During a press briefing, Homendy stated, 'It's really important for folks to understand that we will not analyze any of the information we are collecting. We will not provide any sort of findings, conclusions, or any safety recommendations while on scene.'
She further explained, 'Our entire focus on scene is to collect the perishable evidence — that's documenting the scene, taking photographs, and gathering any electronics or components that may disappear once the scene is cleaned up.'
The NTSB's approach underscores the significance of preserving crucial evidence immediately following an incident like the Key Bridge collapse.
