NTPC record: 10mn tonnes coal produced from mines in Jharkhand

RANCHI: With a record production of 10 million tonnes coal from the Pakri Barwadih mine in the state in May this year, the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has been able to achieve highest ever production of 16 lakh tonnes in a month ever since it started mining the mineral, the PSU said on Friday.

In a statement. the company said that the year-on-year growth of the company for May stood at 81% in 2022-23. The NTPC is operating three mines - Pakri Barwadih in Jharkhand, Dulanga in Odisha and Talaipalli in Chhattisgarh. The company also said that it has achieved a coal production of 14.02 million tonnes in financial year 2021-22 registering a year-on-year growth of 36 per cent from 2020-21. NTPC said that it was facing several hindrances in coal production, but due to resolute leadership the company was able to attain growth. TNN
