
The Hunter and mid-north coast of New South Wales have been inundated with heavy rainfall since Tuesday, and subsequent flooding has resulted in hundreds of people being rescued by the SES.

Some areas have been consistently above long-term averages this year, such as the Yarras in between Coffs Harbour and Newcastle. Others, such as Taree, were slightly above average until a recent, sudden, spike.
