NSW case numbers have held steady for the fourth day this week, with another 12 people identified as having COVID-19 in the overnight numbers.
But Victoria has announced its its highest daily total of the pandemic at a noon media conference, with the Premier Dan Andrews set to report 725 new cases in the past 24 hours.
561 of those are under investigation, and 15 people have died including a man aged in his 30s.
Twelve of those cases are linked to the aged care sector.
Victoria has also suspended all but the most urgent elective surgery, Mr Andrews announced at his noon press conference.
NSW Health says one of the new cases was locally acquired with no known source and one of the new cases is a returned traveller in hotel quarantine.
There are now:
- 105 cases associated with Thai Rock Wetherill Park cluster
- 58 cases associated with the Crossroads Hotel cluster
- 46 cases associated with the funeral events in Bankstown and surrounding suburbs, including 15 associated with Mounties in Mount Pritchard.
- 30 cases associated with the Potts Point cluster, including 24 cases linked to the Apollo Restaurant cluster and 6 cases linked with the Thai Rock Restaurant Potts Point cluster (two cases attended both and are counted as Thai Rock cases).
Ten cases are linked to existing clusters: two to Thai Rock at Wetherill Park, two to The Apollo restaurant at Potts Point, and six associated with the Bankstown funerals cluster.
The low daily numbers - which the NSW Health Minister labelled a "very good result" on Tuesday - come amid high rates of testing, with 22,087 tests reported in the 24-hour reporting period.
One previously reported case has been excluded after further testing, bringing the total number of cases in NSW to 3,631.
The its daily update, NSW adviced that a previously reported case attended Kids Learning Academy in Busby while infectious on July 29.
The case is a child of a previously reported case, linked with Mounties in Mount Pritchard and the centre is closed for deep cleaning while contact tracing is underway.
Also as advised yesterday, two cases reported in today's numbers attended Greenway Park Public School and a previously reported case attended Bonnyrigg High School.
Both schools reopened for on-site learning today, while contact tracing continues and all close contacts are in self-isolation.
