MUMBAI: Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut continued levelling allegations against BJP leader Kirit Somaiya on Friday, saying Somaiya had threatened interior designer Anvay Naik who died by suicide. Raut alleged that Naik had committed suicide under pressure of BJP.
Raut claimed that Kirit Somaiya had “threatened Naik asking him not to send any bills to Arnab Goswami. It was only after this that Naik committed suicide.” Naik and his mother Kumud Naik, who served as director in his interior designing firm, were found dead at their Alibaug bungalow in May 2018.
Raut said “now extortion charges will be filed against” Somaiya.” “Father and son will definitely go to jail,” Raut reiterated.
On Friday, Sanjay Raut’s brother, Shiv Sena MLA from Vikhroli Sunil Raut, submitted a complaint to the Powai police against Somaiya for enrolling bogus tenants in a Slum Rehabilitation Authority project in Powai’s Perubaug.
Referring to Somaiya’s allegations about 19 bungalows reportedly owned by chief minister Uddhav Thackeray’s wife Rashmi Thackeray in Raigad, Raut said, “Even in his dreams, he can only see bungalows. They may be his own benami bungalows. There is no bungalow on that place. The BJP has been haunted by ghosts,” Raut said.
The BJP has been alleging that Raut has been making these charges to deflect attention from the heat he and his associates are facing from the ED.
