Now, random sampling to check Covid spread in Madhya Pradesh

BHOPAL: The district administration has devised a new strategy to keep the Covid-19 situation under control. Under the new strategy, likely "superspreaders" of the virus will be identified and random sampling of people under this group will be carried out so that they could be isolated as soon as they get infected.

A spokesperson for the district administrator said that a "superspreader" is a person who has greater possibility to spread the infection than other people due to his vocation, living conditions or his habits. People who work at a crowded place, those who roam around a lot, people living or working in small, congested places could be "superspreaders".

The process of unlocking is underway after a sharp decline in the Coronavirus cases but ground survey at places where a person comes in contact with several persons is a must, he said.

"Superspreaders" will be identified through surveillance and random sampling carried out among them.

The "superspreaders" in the rural areas could be employees of institutions who come in direct contact with people, persons working in PDS outlets, seed, fertilisers and pesticide shops, post offices, banks, mandi, places of worship, weekly markets, special markets and health institutions. In the urban areas, group of "superspreaders" could be petrol pump vendors, workers at places of worship, bus stand, migrant workers, travellers from outside, shopkeepers, vegetable, milk and other vendors,, workers in a shopping mall, workers at hotels and restaurants, workers of health institutions, employees of government offices who come in direct contact with people, auto and taxi drivers, traders in markets, special markets and workers in factories and institutions, who work in small, closed spaces.

The report of work done by survey teams would be uploaded on "Sarthak" app on a regular basis, he added.
