Notts County lose unbeaten record as Chesterfield sneak derby win

Gevaro Nepomuceno dented Notts County's fine run of form as Chesterfield  sealed derby glory with  a 1-0 victory at the Proact.

The Magpies dominated possession early on with Kristian Dennis firing over and then forcing a save from Shwan Jalal as Neal Ardley's side looked to make a breakthrough.

Chesterfield struggled to retain any attacking momentum but they found the breakthrough in the lead up to half-time when Jonathan Smith's cross to the back post was met by Nepomuceno who was unmarked.

Notts attempted to find an equaliser before half-time, but despite getting into some good positions in the final third, their final ball was lacking.

Richard Brindley did curl a free-kick over the bar in the second half while Zoumana Bakayogo drilled a cross-shot to the near post that was collected by Jalal.

Will Evans saw a goal ruled for offside and from the ensuing counter attack, Brindley saw a shot deflected over the bar.

Ardley sent on Regan Booty and Wes Thomas in an attempt to find an equaliser with Notts encouraged by more than 1,400 fans in the away end.

But for all of their possession clear-cut chances were few and far between with Rose heading over a corner right at the death as Chesterfield hung on for all three points to inflict Notts' first defeat since September.
