Notts County look at Chesterfield striker as Magpies aim to strengthen attack

Notts County have taken a look at Chesterfield striker Kairo Mitchell as they aim to bolster their attack for the new National League season.

The Magpies are believed to have put the Grenada frontman on their list of potential targets as they seek to add more strength and depth to their options up front.

Notts have been on the lookout for a centre forward to help ease the burden on last season's top scorer Kyle Wootton with a target man on their agenda.

And Mitchell is believed to be one of the names in the frame with the forward's future at the Spireites having been thrown into the spotlight during the summer.

The striker has fallen out of favour at the Technique Stadium despite being hailed as a "huge talent" by his former manager Ian Culverhouse at King's Lynn.

Chesterfield paid a five-figure fee to sign Mitchell from the Linnets where he scored seven goals in 20 appearances and has since won international honours with Grenada.

But he has struggled to nail down a place under boss James Rowe and it is thought Chesterfield are willing to offload the striker, who started his career at Leicester City.

Notts have already raided the Spireites this summer for left-back Joel Taylor who has impressed during the course of pre-season so far.

He was one of several signings in what has been an impressive recruitment campaign by head coach Ian Burchnall and Notts' owners, the Reedtz brothers.

Taylor, Matty Palmer, Ed Francis and Kyle Cameron have all stood out in pre-season so far and it is hoped their arrival can help form another promotion push next term.
