Nottinghamshire pub launches 'wall of hope' to lift spirits during lockdown

A Nottinghamshire pub has launched a 'wall of hope' aimed to lift the spirits of the local community.

The Dog House Pub and Kitchen is located in Main Street, Kimberley.

People are being invited to attach an old key to the 'wall of hope' at the front of the pub.

The community project is aiming to let people who are struggling during the pandemic know they are not alone and help support those who need it.

Some of the keys have messages written on them such as "one smile can change the whole world".

The campaign, which launched yesterday, Saturday, February 13, will last throughout lockdown.

Bar manager Emma Birtles said: "The response has been really good - we have had quite a few people come down and write a quote.

"We're trying to raise awareness about how important mental health is - especially at the minute.

"We want everyone in Kimberley to have the opportunity to inspire themselves and others to keep going."

Anyone who hasn't got a key can come into the pub on a Saturday or Sunday from 11am to 3pm.

The Dog House is also selling barista coffee and homemade cakes - with all the proceeds going to a mental health charity.

The project will also be rolled out to the Dog House's sister pub in Kirkby later this month.
