Nottinghamshire carpet company with 5 shops 'taking steps' towards liquidation

A carpet company with five Nottinghamshire shops is 'taking steps' towards liquidation. The Little Carpet Company, which has shops in Gedling, Mapperley, Arnold, Wollaton and West Bridgford, has entered the process of voluntary liquidation.

A letter, which was sent on January 11, informed all known creditors the company's director was taking steps to place it into creditors' voluntary liquidation due to the company's 'financial position'. Begbies Traynor, a corporate restructuring firm, is assisting the director with this process, with insolvency practitioners to be appointed following the resolution to wind-up the company being passed by the members.

The letter outlined the director is required to seek a decision from the company's creditors on the nomination of liquidators, via a virtual meeting. The date for the creditors' decision is scheduled for February 2.

A Begbies Traynor representative said: "The letter that has been issued - that is the case. There's nothing formal at this point that has taken place, but a decision has been convened as per the letter."

According to The Little Carpet Company's website, the "independent, family owned, local business" was established in 2010 with its first shop in Gedling Village. The site added: "We have many years of flooring industry experience and our fitting team are all experienced professionals who only work for The Little Carpet Company, We pride ourselves at putting the customer first and we treat your house like it is our home because we know how important it is."

When Nottinghamshire Live contacted the listed phone numbers for the different branches of The Little Carpet Company a representative for the company could not be reached - with callers met by a loud one-note tone. It is not known if these shops are closed, but no staff were present at the Mapperley store on Monday, January 23.
