Nottinghamshire car meet crash leaves pedestrian seriously injured

One person has been left seriously injured after a crash at an organised car meet.

The incident sparked a warning from police in Derbyshire following the crash which is believed to have happened near the MFN venue near Shipley Gate in Eastwood, Nottinghamshire.

A pedestrian was hurt in the "serious crash" involving a vehicle on the evening of Sunday, September 5, the force's road policing unit wrote on its Twitter.

The tweet stated that the injuries sustained were not life-threatening but the individual remained in hospital.

The driver has been located.

Officers have issued a safety warning for those that attend the organised car meets.

They wrote: "Folks, these meets are not somewhere to bring your children/families. They continue to be proliferated by irresponsible unskilled drivers."

The roads unit tweeted: "Please either call 101 or send us a DM via @DerPolContact. Incident 896-050921 refers. You can also send us a message on Facebook via the main Derbyshire Constabulary page."

A video of the crash is understood to be circulating but the force have urged people to contact them instead of sharing it online.
