Nottingham salons up for awards at 'The Oscars of the hairdressing industry'

Two Nottingham salons are up for awards at a prestigious event widely regarded as 'the Oscars of the hairdressing industry'. KH Hair, a franchise business with salons across the midlands, has managed to get two of its Nottingham salons nominated at this year's British Hairdressing Business Awards.

The event aims to recognise the names that have achieved business brilliance and Nottingham's Sean and Debbie McMenamin, salon directors at KH Hair Nottingham, in Castle Gate, along with Jessica Neil, creative director at KH Hair West Bridgford, have all been noticed for their hard work.

With Sean and Debbie up for Franchisee of the Year and Jessica up for Salon Stylist of the Year Award, KH Hair is now hoping it can clinch the accolades in the finals, hosted at London’s Park Plaza Westminster Bridge. Sean and Debbie said: “We are very humbled to have been chosen as finalists.”

“We’d like to say a huge thank you to the judges and an even bigger thank you to our awesome team who inspire us every day with their amazing teamwork and talent. And, of course, a big shout out to our wonderful clients for helping us to continue doing what we all love on a daily basis.”

The trio reached the finals after submitting attention-grabbing entries, detailing the skills and experience that have contributed to their career success to date. Following an intensive judging process, they will now attend the 25th British Hairdressing Business Awards.

Jessica, who now faces an in-depth interview with a panel of expert judges before the main awards ceremony, is equally thrilled. “I’m absolutely over the moon to have reached the finals of such a prestigious awards event. It’s a huge honour,” she added.

“To be recognised for all of my hard work, dedication and passion for the industry means the world to me and I’m really excited for the finals in London in July.” KH Hair Group’s managing director, Darren Messias, added: “I am absolutely delighted that Debbie, Sean and Jessica have finalised in the British Hairdressing Business Awards. Debbie and Sean live and breathe their business and invest all of their time, passion and care into their team, and this shows in the quality and strength of what they all produce on a day-to-day basis.

"Jessica works so hard, not only as a very busy style director in the salon but also as an integral part of the KH Hair creative team, so this recognition is thoroughly well-deserved. I am incredibly proud that they are part of our KH Hair franchise family and I wish them lots of luck for the final in July.”

A total of 17 trophies are set to be awarded at the event, which was launched in 1998. It has previously honoured names including Trevor Sorbie, Sophia Hilton, Colin McAndrew and Casey Coleman.

Jayne Lewis-Orr, executive director of the British Hairdressing Business Awards says: “The awards are an annual celebration of business acumen, and the people and companies going the extra mile to ensure that creativity and commercial success go hand in hand. Once again, our judging panel was overwhelmed with the standard of entries.

"Sean, Debbie and Jessica should feel incredibly proud to have finalised alongside such impressive talent.”
