A street in Nottingham dubbed the "most patriotic" is left "bare" ahead of the start of the World Cup. Last year, Pinewood Gardens, a small residential road in Clifton, was completely covered with England flags and memorabilia in support of England during Euro 2020.
However, just days away from the start of the 2022 FIFA World Cup taking place in Qatar, the street doesn't seem to be gripped by football fever this time around. Resident Tony Brown, who has lived on the road for 32 years, told Nottinghamshire Live that his son Charlie is the one who usually puts out all the memorabilia.
But football fan Charlie is heading to Qatar to watch England play in the competition - which starts on Sunday - and hasn't had chance to put up the flags. Tony said: "It used to be fantastic. My lad does it but he's going to Qatar. With it getting dark, and he's at work, he hasn't got time to do it."

The dad and son, along with another neighbour, did get the flags ready to be put out around a week ago. But due to the rain, they didn't.
The 56-year-old added: "Usually the buntings are across here, the flags are flying, but it's just wet, cold and miserable. It will be different in a couple of years with the Euros.
"I'm sorry to disappoint but come back for the Euros." The next Euros will be hosted in Germany in June 2024.
Another Pinewood Gardens resident, who wished to remain anonymous, told Nottinghamshire Live that it is never too late to put up the banners. She said: "It's bare.
"Someone I know is going to the World Cup, going to Qatar. Usually he's the one who puts the banners up and bunting.
"We're a close street, we all get out into the street and have a few drinks - any chance to have a party. I do watch it - I'm actually surprised there's nothing up. It's never too late to do it tomorrow."
