Nottingham Greggs stores to stay open late and new items added to menu

Love for Greggs bakery is well established, however, the retailer's latest move has sent fans into a frenzy. Even the official Post Office Twitter account reacted saying "Christmas came early".

What is so exciting you may ask? Well, the high street bakery giant is 'now open late' and introducing new menu items. Announcing the revelation to fans on Twitter, the retailer wrote: "Yep, you heard us right, now loads of Greggs shops are open even later. And what’s more, there’s new pizzas and hot desserts, as well as your usual favourites".

The news hit the spot for lovers of the bakery. "Greggs for dinner every night", wrote one person. Another added: "We love Greggs at night". And some wanted the store to go further: "You know that Greggs at 2am would be amazing...when you're out the pub late and feeling the hunger. #JustSaying", said one person.

Fans not only relished the idea of later opening, they also wanted to know more about the menu updates. One said: "What's this about new pizzas?". While another added: "Hot desserts you say!" adding a Netflix gif which read, "Interesting".

The high street shop says pizzas will be customisable with a choice of toppings including Chargrill Chicken, Mexican Chicken, Pepperoni, Red Onion, Jalapenos and Mixed Peppers, while a range of sides will include Southern Fried Potato Wedges, Spicy BBQ Chicken Bites, Southern Fried Chicken Goujons or Vegan Southern Fried Chicken-Free Goujons . Hot Yum Yums will also be added to the range and will include a dipping sauce.

While most people welcomed the new additions, some did query the price. One person said: "I do love a Greggs. Everything is good quality. But price is getting a bit daft." Another added: "Just wait for the overnight price increase".

Nottingham city stores now 'open late' include Greggs in Clumber St, Listergate, Upper Parliament Street and Beast Market, as well as Greggs Lady Bay, the outlet at the University of Nottingham Jubilee Campus, and in Queens Road, Beeston. Many will be open from 6.00am until 8.30pm on weekdays and Saturday's but check individual shops for times and there is some variation across the city.
