Nottingham Forest vs Reading postponed after heavy rain at the City Ground

Nottingham Forest’s Sky Bet Championship clash against Reading has been postponed due to waterlogged pitch.

The Reds were due to host the Royals on Trentside in their next league match, but heavy rain has meant that the contest will need to be rearranged.

A pitch inspection took place at 12pm and the decision has been taken for the match to be postponed until a further date.

The club say details for the rearranged fixture will be released in due course.

Manager Sabri Lamouchi and his players would have been keen for the match to go ahead, after back-to-back defeats to Wigan Athletic and Hull City over the past week.

Those losses have seen the Reds slip to eighth place in the Championship, but are just four points off West Bromwich Albion who are top of the table.

Prior to those defeats, Forest had managed to go on a 10-game unbeaten run in the league, but recent results have put a dent in the quest for automatic promotion to the Premier League.

With not even a third of the season completed, Forest will still have realistic ambitions that this could be the year that they earn promotion to the top flight.
