Nottingham Forest trio doubtful for Cardiff City clash as Reds boss hails quality in squad

Injury latest

Nottingham Forest have injury doubts over three key players ahead of their trip to Cardiff City tomorrow night.

Midfielder Samba Sow missed Saturday’s 0-0 draw at home to QPR with a recurrence of a knee problem, and may still be absent against the Bluebirds.

There had been “question marks” about winger Sammy Ameobi (hips) and striker Lewis Grabban (knee) before the weekend’s City Ground clash, though both started the game - with the former coming off after an hour.

But head coach Sabri Lamouchi says the pair are still struggling ahead of the journey to south Wales.

Quality players

Nottingham Forest have players who would walk into any team in the Championship, according to head coach Sabri Lamouchi.

The Reds are still right in the promotion mix, despite Saturday’s 0-0 draw with QPR making it three games without a win.

They are currently fifth, six points off the top two, with 12 games to go as they make the trip to face Cardiff City tomorrow night.

Much has been made about the strength of Forest’s team spirit this season, but Lamouchi believes the fact they have climbed up the table is as much down to the quality in his squad.

Loanee impressing

Nottingham Forest loanee Liam Bridcutt has been singled out for praise by Lincoln City boss Michael Appleton.

The Reds midfielder is down to spend the second half of the season on loan with the Imps, and is already impressing.

Since his move to Sincil Bank, the 30-year-old has made four appearances for the League One club, scoring one goal which came in their 1-1 draw with MK Dons earlier this month.

Prior to his move to Lincoln, Bridcutt spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Bolton Wanderers, where he captained the side in 11 of his 12 appearances for the Trotters.

Working hard

Defender Tobias Figueiredo says working under Nottingham Forest head coach Sabri Lamouchi is helping to improve him as a player.

The 26-year-old has formed an impressive partnership with Joe Worrall in the heart of the defence, playing his part as the Reds have been pushing towards the top end of the table.

Under Lamouchi, Forest sit fifth in the Championship with 12 games to go, and Figueiredo has enjoyed his time working with the Frenchman.

“It is really good. The work we are doing is really good,” he told the club programme, before Saturday’s 0-0 draw with QPR.
