Nottingham Forest striker Lyle Taylor explains why he has pink hair

Nottingham Forest striker Lyle Taylor has dyed his hair pink for the month of October to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Last week marked the start of Cancer Awareness month, which aims to raise awareness - and valuable funds - around the disease.

This is the fourth season that the 31-year-old has taken part in fundraising, dying his hair pink and wearing pink boots for the month.

The striker first joined the campaign in October 2018, surprising a few people at Charlton Athletic with the new hair colour. Since then, the fundraiser has been a huge success and something he has committed to doing again this month, with a goal of hitting £10,000.

Taylor’s Forest teammates will also be showing their support for the campaign, wearing pink warm-up t-shirts ahead of a Championship fixture at the City Ground this month.

Talking about the fundraiser, the striker told the official Nottingham Forest website: “The Pink October campaigns in previous seasons have been a success and the support shown to both myself and to Cancer Research UK during those periods has been phenomenal.

"Cancer is, sadly, a disease that has affected a lot of loved ones but to help raise funds and awareness for this fantastic charity, particularly throughout Cancer Awareness Month, can really help make a difference.

“In my family, three of my grandparents have suffered with different types of cancer.

"Thankfully, they have survived it and are now healthy and enjoying their lives. However, my aunt's mum and nan's best friend both had breast cancer and unfortunately passed away.

"Raising money towards cancer research is something that is important to me, simply because I've seen people so close to me suffer and, in the worst cases, lose that fight."
