Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White told what he needs after England snub

Morgan Gibbs-White has been told he could make the England squad for next year's European Championships but needs to improve his "game-to-game" consistency.

The Nottingham Forest midfielder has shone during his debut campaign at the City Ground since arriving from Wolves last summer. The 23-year-old played a key role in their successful Premier League survival bid, scoring five goals alongside eight assists in 37 league appearances.

But despite several standout performances, Gibbs-White was left out of the latest England squad by manager Gareth Southgate. He is likely to be involved in the U-21 Euros this summer instead.

And former Forest striker Teddy Sheringham has shared his thoughts on why Gibbs-White missed out on a place in the Three Lions squad for their Euro qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia in June.

"Gibbs-White has been the driving force for me at Nottingham Forest," he told Betway. He’s got good energy and a lot of quality to finish things off, I’ve been very impressed.

"I think it’s very early stages to start talking about him from an England perspective, but he could force his way in before the Euros next year without a doubt. I think he needs to be a little bit more consistent game-to-game."

Asked where he sees the future of another Reds star in Brennan Johnson, Sheringham believes the City Ground is the best place for the forward at this stage of his career.

He added: "I think Johnson’s scored some important goals, but he’s still a young lad so I don’t think he needs to go anywhere."
