Nottingham Forest's Harry Arter has scan as Ireland boss faces anxious wait

Republic of Ireland manager Stephen Kenny is waiting for news on Nottingham Forest midfielder Harry Arter after he reportedly picked up an injury in the 2-1 defeat to Bristol City at the weekend.

The Irish Examiner say the former Bournemouth midfielder is waiting for the results of a scan this afternoon which will determine whether he will be available for their Euro 2020 play-off semi-final against Slovakia in Bratislava on Thursday.

Arter, who had to be replaced in the 68th minute of the defeat against the Robins,  is still in England while the rest of his team-mates headed to Abbotstown and both Forest and ROI will hope for good news.

Forest right-back Cyrus Christie did take part in training today having been called into the squad due to an injury to Everton's Seamus Coleman.

The Ireland team is due to fly out to Bratislava tomorrow afternoon.
