Nottingham Forest 'open negotiations' over transfer for £10m-rated forward

Nottingham Forest are said to have “opened negotiations” over a move for Argentine forward Taty Castellanos.

It is a crucial transfer window for the Reds as they prepare for their return to the Premier League after a 23-year absence. And bolstering his attacking options is a priority for boss Steve Cooper.

Castellanos was reportedly on Forest’s radar in January, and that particular link has resurfaced as the player looks set to leave New York City in the coming weeks. As well as the Reds, a number of other clubs have been credited with an interest in the 23-year-old.

West Ham United, Leeds United, River Plate and Palmeiras are all said to be keen, although Bola VIP report the asking price was proving to be a stumbling block. But they add Castellanos is now a “concrete option” from Forest and they have “asked for conditions for his transfer”.

TNT Sports claim the front man is valued at about 12m euros (roughly £10.2m). So far in the 2022/23 MLS season, he has bagged seven goals in 11 appearances.

The Reds will look to add some more firepower to their ranks this summer, ahead of the top-flight campaign. But they also have decisions to make on a number of strikers already on their books.

Lewis Grabban’s contract is coming to an end, while Lyle Taylor and Nuno Da Costa were out on loan during the season just gone. Forest do still have Sam Surridge and are expected to try to bring back Keinan Davis, following a successful loan spell from Aston Villa.
