Nottingham Forest linked with defender as Reds ace responds to fans' criticism

Transfer talk

Nottingham Forest are one of a number Championship clubs queuing up to sign Sheffield Wednesday defender Morgan Fox, according to reports.

Reports are claiming that the Reds are interested in signing the Owls left-back, but face competition from Championship rivals Derby County, West Bromwich Albion, Huddersfield Town and Blackburn Rovers.

TEAMtalk claim that Fox’s contract at Hillsborough expires at the end of the season, and the Owls could be set to lose the 26-year-old in the January transfer window.

Fox joins Coventry City’s Sam McCallum as the latest left-back linked with a move to the City Ground, although the Sky Blues defender is thought to be close to joining Premier League giants Liverpool.

Responding to criticism

Midfielder Ben Watson says Nottingham Forest players will take criticism from fans “on the chin”, following Saturday’s 4-0 capitulation at home to Sheffield Wednesday.

Boos rang out from the stands at half-time and full-time, as the crowd made their feelings clear, while many supporters left the City Ground at the break after a dire opening 45 minutes in which their team had been blown away by the Owls.

Four out of the Reds’ five league defeats so far this season have now come on their own turf.

And the weekend’s thumping came on the back of last Tuesday night’s draw with Middlesbrough, when Sabri Lamouchi’s men surrendered a 1-0 lead.

The Reds are one of a number of clubs linked with a move for the Coventry City left-back ahead of the January transfer window, with Aston Villa, West Brom, Leeds United and Huddersfield also thought to be keen.

But now fresh reports are claiming that the 19-year-old is set to sign for Liverpool in the New Year, beating a host of clubs to his signature.

The report also claims that McCallum will be loaned back to Coventry for the second half of the season, in order to continue his development.

Advice for Reds 'target'

On-loan Leeds United starlet Jack Clarke has been urged to leave Elland Road in January, amid reported interest from Nottingham Forest.

The Reds were last month linked with a move for the forward, who is currently spending the season on loan with Leeds from parent-club Tottenham Hotspur.

Derby County and Middlesbrough are reportedly plotting a bid to sign Clarke in January.

Recent reports have claimed that Clarke is set to be recalled by Spurs in the New Year, having barely featured for manager Marcelo Bielsa this term.
