Nottingham Forest 'in talks' to face European opposition in pre-season friendly

Nottingham Forest are reportedly in talks with Greek club Atromitos about arranging a pre-season friendly this summer.

Martin O’Neill’s side have one more game to play before the current Championship campaign comes to a close, with Bolton Wanderers the visitors to the City Ground on Sunday.

After a summer break, attention will then turn to 2019/20, with the Reds manager having made it clear his team will be targeting a place in the Premier League, after falling short of a top six finish this time around.

In preparation for their promotion assault, it has been claimed the Reds could be set to face European opposition.

According to reports in Greece, Atromitos are keen to take on Forest at their Peristeri Stadium, with a date of July 13 being proposed.

And it is claimed O’Neill’s men are also expected to face fellow Evangelos Marinakis-owned club Olympiacos some time in mid-July.

Atromitos are said to be looking to take on strong opposition in advance of their Europa League qualifiers.

They are fourth in the Greek Super League ahead of the final round of matches for this season.

The Reds meanwhile, are 10th in the Championship, seven points adrift of the play-off places.
