Nottingham Forest in 'final stages' of stunning Man Utd transfer as £20m clause update emerges

Nottingham Forest are said to be one step closer to making Dean Henderson their first signing of the summer.

The Reds are keen on signing the Manchester United goalkeeper on a loan deal as a possible replacement for Brice Samba.

Reports now suggest boss Steve Cooper has reached the "final stages" of negotiations with the Red Devils over a one-year loan deal.

According to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, United are "preparing the paperwork" but he adds that "final details need to be clarified regarding the possible release clause of around £20m".

Samba is said to have rejected a new deal at the City Ground.

The 28-year-old was reportedly shocked to learn that Forest were offering him a new deal on the same money, but are prepared to spend large amounts of cash to sign Henderson on loan.

The initial report about Samba claimed his decision to reject Forest’s offer of a new deal “and reluctantly seek an exit” is not financially motivated “but about respect for his achievements, importance and popularity at the City Ground”.
