Joe Lolley and Lewis Grabban got on the scoresheet and Sammy Ameobi was a threat down the right wing, but the attacking trio missed out.
Instead, central defender Michael Dawson and left-back Jack Robinson made the WhoScored.com Championship team of the week.
Dawson, who scored his first Forest goal since 2004, received a rating of 8.0, with Robinson's performance rated at 7.9.
