Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper names team to face Olympiacos in friendly

Head coach Steve Cooper has named his Nottingham Forest team to face Olympiacos in tonight’s friendly.

The Reds are rounding off a week-long training camp in Greece with a match at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium against their fellow Evangelos Marinakis-owned club. It marks their penultimate run-out before the competitive action resumes later this month.

Forest have already faced Stoke City and Atromitos - the latter in a behind closed doors game - as part of their schedule during the World Cup break. But Cooper views today’s friendly as a step up in preparations ahead of the season’s return.

Serge Aurier and Renan Lodi will take up the full-back spots. Willy Boly and Scott McKenna will make up the centre-back pairing, ahead of goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

It will be a midfield three of Jack Colback, Orel Mangala and Ryan Yates. And in attack, Brennan Johnson starts after returning from the World Cup, with Morgan Gibbs-White and Jesse Lingard also in the XI.

The bench is made up of Jordan Smith, young goalkeeper Adnan Kanuric, Steve Cook, Joe Worrall, Loic Bade, Harry Toffolo, Lewis O’Brien, Gustavo Scarpa, Taiwo Awoniyi, Emmanuel Dennis and Sam Surridge.

Forest: Henderson; Aurier, Boly, McKenna, Lodi; Colback, Mangala, Yates; Gibbs-White, Lingard, Johnson. Subs: Smith, Kanuric, Cook, Worrall, Bade, Toffolo, O’Brien, Scarpa, Awoniyi, Dennis, Surridge.
