Tobias Figueiredo came back into the Nottingham Forest starting line-up, as boss Chris Hughton made one change for the visit of Birmingham City.
The Reds were looking to make it three games unbeaten at the City Ground in the Boxing Day clash, having toppled Sheffield Wednesday and drawn at Millwall last time out.
Figueiredo had been among the substitutes at The Den, after serving a one-match suspension for picking up a fifth booking of the season.
But he returned to the team against the Blues, with Loic Mbe Soh making way and dropping to the bench.
The Portuguese was set to partner Joe Worrall in the centre of the defence, with Cyrus Christie and Yuri Ribeiro at right and left-back respectively, ahead of goalkeeper Brice Samba.
It looked likely to be a 4-2-3-1 formation for the hosts, although 4-3-3 or 4-1-4-1 were also possibilities on the banks of the Trent.
Samba Sow and Ryan Yates were the two midfielders most likely to drop deep, with Cafu set to play in a more advanced role.
Alex Mighten and Sammy Ameobi kept their places on the flanks, with Lewis Grabban also retained as the lone front man.
Mbe Soh was joined on the bench by Jordan Smith, Gaetan Bong, Carl Jenkinson, Miguel Angel Guerrero, Joe Lolley, Anthony Knockaert, Harry Arter and Lyle Taylor.
