Nottingham bar owner speaks out after pinning picture of Putin on urinals

The owner of an Irish bar in Nottingham has said he stuck a picture of Vladamir Putin to the urinals as 'everyone hates him'.

Raglan Road Irish Bar, in Derby Road, posted a picture of the installation of the Russian President on its Instagram on Saturday (March 5).

It follows Putin's decision to launch an invasion of Ukraine, which has been widely condemned across the West.

Explaining the reason for putting up the picture, bar owner Ged Dowling told Nottinghamshire Live: "Well we had Trump on for five years and he was hated.

"I just thought the way the current situation is, everyone hates him. It is a bit of fun but it's not a jokey subject. We had to put someone up there so I thought the most hated person in the world, we should try him."

He added: "People love it, everyone loves it. People just come in to use the toilet so we're going to get a charity box up there to make people pay. So if it makes some money that would be good.

"Everyone loves it, we've not had one person say anything bad about it at all."

Money raised by the charity box will go towards the Ukraine Fund which Mr Dowling says means people can "spend some money and give some money to a good cause".
